Leader Dogs for the Blind
Leader Dogs for the Blind, located in Rochester, is a Nonprofit Organization that is committed to providing the legally blind with a means to assist them in living a full and more independent life. Leader Dog accepts and trains students from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Spain, and many other countries throughout the world. The school provides transportation for students from the United States and Canada. Room and board, the costs of training and all Leader Dog services are free of charge. Eversight Michigan
Eversight Michigan - Formerly known as the Michigan Eye-Bank, Eversight is a charitable, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of sight through transplantation, research, education and partnership. Our network of community based eye banks – in Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and Ohio – recovers, evaluates and provides human eye tissue for transplantation; supports research into the causes and cures of blinding eye conditions; promotes donation awareness through public and professional education; and provides humanitarian aid to people around the world in need of sight-restoring services. Lions Bear Lake Camp
Lions Bear Lake Camp for physically challenged youth is owned and operated by Lions Visually Impaired Youth Camp, Inc. a 501C-3 Non Profit Corporation. Penrickton Center for Blind Children
Penrickton Center for Blind Children, located in Taylor, MI, is a unique, private non-profit agency, providing five-day residential, day care, and consultation/evaluation services to blind, multi-disabled children ages one through twelve. Each program is individually designed to promote independence in all aspects of daily living. Penrickton Center utilizes its experience and expertise to train and serve families, children and professionals through support services, education and advocacy. Silent Children's Speech Fund
Silent Children's Speech Fund provides funding for Beaumont's Center for Childhood Speech and Language Disorders. The Center was established in 1972 to help children with speech and language disorders learn to communicate. As one of the largest hospital-based children's speech and language centers in the United States, they provide a variety of specialty care programs for children with speech and language disorders. Madonna University Lions Hearing Program
Madonna University Lions Hearing Program - Since it's inception in 1976, Madonna University's Office of Disability Resources (O.D.R.) has assisted more than one thousand (1000) students with disabilities. The O.D.R. employs four full-time employees who work as a team to create the best possible learning environment for students with disabilities. They are sensitive to the needs of individual students and are also fluent in American Sign Language. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the only major diabetes organization focused exclusively on research. It is the number one nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research worldwide. Through its research funding, JDRF has been instrumental in establishing a focus on the needs of all people with diabetes, which has helped set the world's diabetes research agenda to find a cure. The primary objective of the Lions program is to reduce the number of new cases of blindness caused by diabetic retinopathy through diabetes education, early detection and treatment, and support of research. Lions Clubs International Foundation
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is the grant-making arm of Lions Club International. Through gifts to LCIF, Lions can serve a broader community than they could on their own. Lions have reached out across the world to prevent river blindness in Nigeria, to help children with cardiac problems in Romania and to assist victims of earthquakes in El Salvador, India and Turkey. LCIF has approved more than $315 million in grants. This includes grants for its SightFirst program, humanitarian services, disaster relief and vocational assistance. LCIF is a powerful vehicle for Lions to make a difference in the world. The foundation harnesses the support of Lions and others, reaffirming the strong belief that many people working together can achieve more than people working alone. Recently, LCIF awarded two $10,000 emergency grants to Lions districts in Florida. E-Blind Program
E-Blind Program is a Michigan non-profit corporation with 501(C)(3) status (tax deductible) founded on May 5, 1999 as a way of commemorating the Pontiac Lions Club's 75th Anniversary. It was felt that with so many emerging technologies, it was very important that these technologies be made available to the blind and visually impaired, and that a full time qualified instructor in this area be made available so that such technologies could be accessed by people wanting to investigate and learn such technologies. The Detroit Radio Information Service (DRIS)
DRIS, a radio-reading service for people with disabilities, is a self-supporting special audience service of WDET-FM at Wayne State University.   Since 1978, DRIS has filled an information void in the blind and print-impaired population by offering a simple, cost-effective method of accessing printed news and information published in hundreds of daily, weekly and monthly periodicals. DRIS is the only service of its kind in the region providing free reading services to one of the community's most under-served population groups.
